The Indian cricketer-cum-politician warmly embraces Shahid Afridi and praises him during the match between Pakistan and India in New York—where the ICC T20 World Cup 2024 is being hosted

New York: Indian cricket icon Navjot Singh Sidhu met with former Pakistani captain Shahid Afridi during the Pakistan vs. India match at the T20 World Cup 2024 in New York on Sunday.
Both former players were in the United States to support their teams in this highly anticipated clash, one of the biggest spectacles in cricket.
A video of their reunion emerged on social media during the match, showing Sidhu warmly embracing Afridi.
“Handsome Afridi. Is there any other guy smarter than him?" remarked Sidhu, who has transitioned into a political career.
Sidhu continued to shower praise on Afridi, highlighting his good-hearted nature and recalling his time as a match-winning player for Pakistan.
Afridi responded by reminiscing about the many matches they played together.
Sidhu then expressed concern over the current state of the Pakistan cricket team, wondering where players like Afridi have gone, as the team struggles to perform consistently.
India, meanwhile, beat Pakistan by six runs.
India and Pakistan clashed seven times in T20 World Cups, with India winning five matches and Pakistan securing only one victory. The remaining match ended in a tie, with India winning via bowl out.
Pakistan's sole T20I victory against India in a T20 World Cup came in 2021 when Babar Azam's team faced off against Virat Kohli's squad.
