Former DS released in Imran Khan’s facilitation in jail case

Rawalpindi: Former Deputy Superintendent Zafar Iqbal, who was detained for allegedly facilitating Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder Imran Khan in Adiala Jail, was released.

According to sources, on August 13, Deputy Superintendent Zafar Iqbal was taken into custody for investigation and has reached his residence near Adiala Jail last night.

On the suspicion of the alleged facilitation of Imran Khan in the jail, two more officers of Adiala Jail were also interrogated including former Deputy Superintendent of Zafar Iqbal and Assistant Nazim, while both officers were residing near former DSP Akram’s residence.

Earlier on August 14, Deputy Superintendent Adiala Jail Muhammad Akram was detained on charges of messaging and facilitating PTI founder. He posted in Adiala Jail for more than 15 years.

For the recovery of Muhammad Akram, the wife has applied to the Lahore High Court (LHC), in which it was stated that since August 14, nothing is known about Akram. An application was made to the police station chief but no case was registered.

The court issued a notice to the police for August 20 and sought their response.
