Suspect was produced before a District East judicial magistrate where police sought a 14-day remand

Karachi: A Karachi East court on Wednesday sent Natasha, the woman driver accused of causing a deadly crash on Karsaz Road, to jail on a 14-day judicial remand.
The judicial magistrate ordered Natasha into custody following her initial appearance in court, which was mandated along with the submission of a medical report. This comes a day after she was first placed on a one-day physical remand.
The suspect was produced before a District East judicial magistrate on Wednesday, where the police again sought her on a 14-day remand.
Natasha is accused of ramming her car into multiple vehicles on Monday, resulting in the deaths of two people and injuries to five others. The victims were identified as 26-year-old Aamna Arif and her father, 60-year-old Imran Arif.
The crash took place near Karachi's KDA Scheme-I area, where Natasha resides. Following the incident, she was detained by police and Rangers, who also impounded her jeep. She was later taken to Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre (JPMC) for a medical examination, as she sustained a head injury in the accident.
The case against Natasha was filed by Imtiaz Arif, the brother of the deceased, who alleged that the deaths of his brother and niece were due to her "negligence, freewheeling, and speeding."
Police stated that since Natasha holds a valid driving license, charges of culpable homicide have been applied to her case, along with charges of negligence and rash driving.
