Indian cricketer Shikhar Dhawan retires

Mumbai: Indian cricketer Shikhar Dhawan has announced his retirement from international and domestic cricket.

Shikhar Dhawan announced his retirement through a social media post in which he said: “I am announcing my retirement from international and domestic cricket. It is a relief in my heart to say goodbye to this journey of cricket that I have played so much for my country”.

He thanked the Indian Cricket Board and said he was grateful to the BCCI for giving him the opportunity. ‘I tell myself that I am not sad that I will not play for the country again. But I am happy to have played for my country, which is my biggest thing’.

The Indian cricketer stated: “Today I am standing at a point where there are only memories to look back and the whole world to look forward to. I always had only one goal to play for India and that happened”. He thanked his family, team, and BCCI.

It is pertinent to note that Shikhar Dhawan represented India in 34 Tests, 167 ODIs, and 68 T20 matches.
