Islamabad: The government has geared up to impose an additional burden of 46 billion rupees on electricity consumers, who will be charged for quarterly adjustments.

An increase in electricity prices has been sought for three months from April to June. 22 billion rupees has been requested to be collected from consumers in the form of capacity payments.

It has been requested to collect Rs10 billion from consumers in terms of transmission and distribution, while 14 billion rupees will be collected in other terms in the price of electricity.

National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (NEPRA) will today hear the petition of distribution companies, asking for increase in electricity prices for all consumers, including electric.
