Rain: Day 1 Test between Pakistan, Bangladesh canceled

Rawalpindi: The first day of the second Test match between Pakistan and Bangladesh was canceled due to rain on Friday.

The twin cities of Rawalpindi and Islamabad have been experiencing intermittent rain since morning, and the Meteorological Department has predicted cloudy skies till the afternoon of the first day of the Test match.

Due to rain and a wet outfield, the first day's play in the Rawalpindi Test was not possible and the match toss could not be done.

Most of the outfield of the Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium has accumulated water and the pitch has been completely covered with rainwater.

It is pertinent to note that in the first match of the two-test series, Bangladesh defeated Pakistan by 10 wickets and is leading the series by 0-1.

Hosts Pakistan are desperate to square the two-match series after Bangladesh won the first Test, also in Rawalpindi, on Sunday.

Bangladesh’s 10-wicket victory was their first in 14 Tests against Pakistan.

Pakistan have left out pace spearhead Shaheen Shah Afridi from their 12-member squad, allowing him time to spend with his newly born son.

Bangladesh are aiming to win only their third away series since gaining Test status in 2000, having beaten the West Indies (2009) and Zimbabwe (2021).
