Web Desk: Mohammad Baqer Zolqadr has been appointed as the new secretary of Iran’s Supreme National Security Council, Iranian media reported. He replaces Ali Larijani in the role. Zolqadr is a former commander of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) and is widely regarded in strategic circles as a hardline and influential figure.

The appointment comes in the wake of a major security crisis, following the deaths of former council secretary Ali Larijani and Basij militia commander Gholam Reza Soleimani in recent attacks attributed to the United States and Israel.
