Torrential rain in Lahore, electricity system disrupted
91mm rain was recorded in Gulshan Ravi, 86mm in Gulberg, and 82mm in Laxmi Chowk
Lahore: The low-lying areas were flooded due to the heavy rain in different areas of Lahore, while the electricity system was disrupted due to the tripping of Lahore Electric Supply Company (LESCO) feeders in several areas.
In the provincial capital, there was heavy rain in many areas including Muslim Town, Kalma Chowk, Johar Town, Bhaati, and Mazang. Most of the roads and streets of the city started to look like rivers and streams. Nishtar Town recorded the highest rainfall of 201mm.

Following the instructions of Chief Minister Punjab Maryam Nawaz, the Managing Director (MD) Water And Sanitation Authority (WASA) along with Commissioner Lahore visited different areas of the city and directed to clear the low-lying areas immediately by using all resources.
Meanwhile, it rained in many areas of Punjab including Faisalabad, Sheikhupura, Sialkot, and Sargodha, and power supply was suspended in many areas due to which the citizens are facing difficulties.
Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) issued an alert in view of torrential rains. DG PDMA directed the Deputy Commissioners across Punjab to remain alert.
DG PDMA stated that the concerned departments should be alert to deal with the emergency situation. They are also monitoring the situation 24/7.
On the other hand, there is a possibility of rain in various cities of Sindh today and tomorrow, while more rain is predicted in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa in the next two days.
Clouds also poured in Galiyat, Malakand, and Mirpur of Azad Kashmir. Heavy rain with thunder and lightning in Murree including Changla, Nathia Gali, and Ayubiyah, flooded the low-lying areas and rivers also got flooded in Kalat and surrounding areas.
In Zhob's Kakar Khorasan tehsil, two children died after being swept away in the rainy season. The number of deaths due to monsoon rains in Balochistan has increased to 34, including two women and 19 children.
Apart from this, there is a risk of flooding in the river channels of Galiyat, Mansehra, Abbottabad, Chitral, Dir, and Swat. The flood situation is expected in the mountain river channels of Dera Ghazi Khan and Rajanpur.
