The first match of the three-match ODI series is being played in Paarl, South Africa, where South Africa won the toss and decided to bat first.
South Africa scored 239 runs for the loss of nine wickets in the stipulated 50 overs. Henrik Klaasen played an innings of 86 runs, which included two sixes and seven fours.
In addition, Ryan Rickelton scored 36, Aiden Markram 35 and Tony de Zorzi scored 33 runs. Marco Janssen was dismissed for 10 and van der Dussen for 8 runs. Tristan Stubbs and Andile Philoquaio could score one run each.
For Pakistan, Salman Ali Agha took 4 wickets while Abrar Ahmed took 2, Saim Ayub and Shaheen Afridi took one wicket each.
The national team's playing 11 was also announced for the first ODI against hosts South Africa, which included Saim Ayub, Abdullah Shafiq, Babar Azam, Muhammad Rizwan, Kamran Ghulam, Salman Agha, Irfan Khan, Shaheen Afridi, Naseem Shah, Haris Rauf, and Abrar Ahmed.
It is pertinent to note that the third and final T20 match between Pakistan and South Africa was washed out due to rain, and South Africa won the three-match T20 series 2-0.
