Interim bails of Shehbaz Sharif, Hamza Shehbaz extended
Lahore: A session court in Lahore has extended the interim bails bail of Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz (PML-N) leaders Shehbaz Sharif and Hamza Shehbaz in Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) cases until August 16.
According to details, the hearing was conducted by session court’s judge Hamid Hussain and both Shehbaz and Hamza appeared before the court.
During the proceedings, the deputy director FIA submitted the investigation report in the court.
Opposition leader Shahbaz Sharif's lawyers submitted a reply to the show cause notice issued by FIA in and requested court to fix next hearing after August 14 due to National Assembly’s session.
The court adjourned the proceedings and extended the interim bail till August 16.
It is pertinent to mention here that the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) is investigating money laundering case against Shahbaz Sharif and Hamza Shahbaz through sugar scandal.
On June 21, Shahbaz Sharif and Hamza Shahbaz had applied for interim bail in Sessions Court to avoid possible arrest in sugar scandal. The two leaders had maintained in the petition that they were already summoned by FIA in money laundering case and they have submitted the record to FIA as well.
“The court is requested to grant bail as FIA intends to arrest us,” the petition stated.
It may be recalled that the FIA had summoned Shahbaz Sharif on June 22 and Hamza Shahbaz on June 24. The FIA had directed Shahbaz Sharif to bring answers to the questions and in case of non-appearance, arrest was indicated.
