Who will get Moderna vaccine? NCOC issues new guidelines
Islamabad: The National Command and Operations Center (NCOC) has issued new guidelines related to Moderna vaccines as highly contagious delta variant spreads in the country.
According to local media, NCOC has allowed general public to get Moderna jab in view of the existing coronavirus situation.
As per NCOC, Moderna vaccine can be administered to students over the age of 16, while pregnant women can also get the modern vaccine.
Earlier, NCOC chief and Federal Minister for Planning and Development Asad Omar confirmed that Pakistan had received 2.5 million doses of Moderna vaccines from the United States (US), which would be available to specific people. He said the Moderna vaccine would be given to people going abroad for education and work where only this particular vaccine is being accepted.
It is worth mentioning that scientists at the American pharmaceutical company have said that Moderna vaccine is highly effective against more contagious strains of Covid-19 found in the United Kingdom (UK) and South Africa.
Pakistan has reported 3,582 Covid-19 cases as fourth wave rages across country.
According to National Command and Operations Center (NCOC), around 3,582 cases of coronavirus were reported while 67 people succumbed to the disease in the last 24 hours, taking the total death toll to 23,529.
The total number of confirmed cases reached to 1,043,277.
As many as 944,375 patients have recovered from the disease with 3,398 critical cases.
