UAE to administer Sinopharm to children aged 3-17

The announcement was made via twitter by the UAE government on Monday.

This decision follows after large-scaled evaluations and clinical trials, said the health authorities without providing further information. Officials said that the trial would monitor the immune response of 900 children in June.

Possessing one of the world’s greatest immunization rates, the Gulf Arab state was already offering the Pfizer-BioNTech to children aged 12-15.

The officials made it public on Sunday that 78.95% of the UAE population of roughly 9 million had received one vaccine dose while 70.57% had been fully vaccinated.

The tourism and trade hub reported 1,519 Covid-19 infections on Sunday that made total 682,377 cases and 1,951 deaths. A breakdown of each of its seven emirates has not been provided.

This led to Phase III clinical trials of the Chinese vaccination Sinopharm and has started making it under a joint venture between Sinopharm and Abu-Dhabi based Technology Company Group 42.
