Kuala Lumpur: A renowned Malaysian singer died from Covid-19, a few days after giving birth to a baby boy.

The eight-month pregnant Siti Sarah Raisuddin suffered low levels of oxygen, to deliver the baby through surgery she was put into an induced coma.

As per reports, the baby was saved but she never got to hold him.

She was shedding tears on her last video call before her death, claimed her husband.

The comedian ShuibSepahtu told the local media, "(It's) as if she understood what we were saying to her’’.

"It's just that it will be really challenging for me to break the news to my three kids on the death of their mother."

This is the singer’s fourth child, the couple have three older children aged six to 10.

According to reports, the whole family had tested positive for Covid-19 on July 25.

The 36-year old singer had shared videos of her children crying after getting their Covid-19 tests on her Instagram account and she had mentioned that she had a hard time watching them.

Fans are heartbroken at the news of her death and many people from the media industry have expressed sorrow on various social media platforms.

The Malaysian King and Queen have also shared their grief to her family. The palace wrote a post on Facebook that read, "Their Majesties also expressed their sadness over her passing and hoped that her family will be patient and resilient as they cope with the loss."

The singer’s death follows the relaxations in Covid-19 restrictions for people who are completely vaccinated against the virus.

The Asian country is currently going through its worst wave, and the news of relaxation in restrictions has been taken in with mixed reactions.

The Opposition parties urge the government to rethink the "poorly thought-out reopening", as they are afraid this could overwhelm the healthcare system.

The country reported 17,236 Covid-19 infections, 212 deaths in one day. About 27.5% of the Malaysian population has been vaccinated against Covid-19.
