Actor Alec Baldwin kills woman using ‘prop gun’ on film set

United States movie star Alec Baldwin has fired a prop gun during shooting of a film ‘Rust’ killing cinematographer Halyna Hutchins and wounding director Joel Souza, police officers reported.

Washington: United States movie star Alec Baldwin has fired a prop gun during shooting of a film ‘Rust’ killing cinematographer Halyna Hutchins and wounding director Joel Souza, police officers reported.

As per preliminary reports, two people were killed including a 42-year-old woman during the film shooting, starring Alec Baldwin.

Hutchins was transported by helicopter to the University of New Mexico Hospital, where she was pronounced dead. While Souza was taken by ambulance to Christus St Vincent Regional Medical centre.

The movie was being filmed in Santa Fe, New Mexico. 

According to investigation officer, it seems that the scene being filmed tangled the use of a prop weapon when it was discharged. 

Police, however, is investigating the tragic incident regarding what type of bullet was fired. 

"The incident remains an active investigation," the police officials said.

Moreover, Baldwin is a co-producer in the Western movie set in 1880s Kansas and plays the eponymous Rust, an outlaw grandfather of a 13-year-old boy convicted of accidental murder.
