Govt announces three holidays in Islamabad
Federal govt withdraws suspension of mobile phone services decision
Islamabad: The federal government has announced three holidays in Islamabad from December 18 to December 20 (Saturday to Monday).
This decision was taken due to the extraordinary summit of Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) in the federal capital.
Islamabad DC Hamza Shafqaat tweeted, “Coming Monday and Saturday will be local holiday in Islamabad for schools and private offices. Hiking trails in margalla will stay closed. Metro stations (Pak sect to Shaheed e millat sect) will stay closed till Monday.”
The federal government withdrew the suspension of mobile phone services decision. Earlier, the Ministry of Interior ordered the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) to suspend the mobile phone services in Islamabad.
On the other hand, foreign delegations from the Organization of the Islamic Conference (OIC) member countries continue to arrive in Pakistan to attend OIC's Foreign Ministers conference in Islamabad.
OIC's Extraordinary Session of Foreign Ministers will be held in Islamabad for three days from December 17–19.
All the arrangements to welcome the foreign delegates have been finalized. Special teams to receive the OIC foreign ministers and other dignitaries have also been formed. The Constitution Avenue and all the prominent places in the twin cities along the route of foreign dignitaries have been decorated.
The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia is the convener of the OIC Conference.
Meanwhile, India, which plays the role of spoiler in Afghanistan and is politicizing the miseries of Afghans, has been isolated on all major diplomatic developments on Afghanistan and the region.
New Delhi has been playing a deceitful role in Afghanistan and is not in favour of peace and stability in Afghanistan and the region.
Earlier in the day, the Interior Minister chaired a meeting of senior officials at Safe City headquarters where participants were briefed on the security arrangements for the OIC Conference.
The meeting was attended by Rangers DG, ICT Chief Commissioner, Islamabad IG and Islamabad DC.
