Islamabad: District Health Officer (DHO) Islamabad has directed to close five more educational institutions after detection of 13 Covid cases, on Thursday.
The health authorities asked the local administration to close five educational institutions including three schools and two colleges in Islamabad.
The DHO Islamabad recommended closing Model College for girls PM Staff Colony, Model Commerce College for Girl Shahdara, Model School F-7/24, Model School for Girls Herdogar and Model School G-9/1.
Meanwhile, all educational institutions across the district were closed for 7 days due to the spike of coronavirus (COVID-19) cases.
According to the details, the attack of COVID-19 intensified in Azad Jammu Kashmir’s Bhimber.
The Bhimber’s deputy commissioner has directed to close all educational institutions in the district for 7 days.
All government, private schools and colleges in Bhimber district have been closed for 7 days from February 4 to 11. In this regard, the notification has been issued.
On the other hand, Pakistan is witnessing its daily COVID caseload mostly hover between the 5,000-6,000 range for close to a month now as the country continues its fight against fifth wave of the pandemic.
Pakistan imposed new restrictions to curb the fast-spreading Omicron variant, hence, the positivity rate now stands at 9.75%. While, the cumulative tally of the country has now climbed to 1,442,263.
As the fifth wave of COVID-19 intensifies, Pakistan reported 5,830 new coronavirus infections, a new daily record, with authorities linking the spike with the Omicron variant of virus.
According to the latest figures issued by the National Command and Operation Center (NCOC), 5,830 persons were tested positive while 42 died in the past 24 hours— taking Pakistan's COVID death toll to 29,372.
As many as 1,304,980 patients have recovered from the disease.
Punjab
The number of patients swelled to 483,779 in the province with 13,201 causalities.
Sindh
The number of infections has surged to 546,141 in the province, while the death toll has reached 7,849.
Khyber Pakhtunkhwa
The confirmed cases have surged to 197,937 in the province with 6,023 casualties.
Balochistan
There are 34,557 confirmed cases while 368 patients have died from the infection so far.
AJK and Gilgit-Baltistan
There are 39,323 coronavirus cases in the AJK while the death toll has reached 760. On the other hand, there are 10,768 cases in GB with 189 coronavirus deaths.
Islamabad
There are 129,758 cases in the capital city while 982 people have lost their lives.
