Sukkur: In an unfortunate incident, a woman was killed while 23 others sustained injuries after wagons of the Lahore-bound Karachi Express derailed near Sukkur on Sunday.

As per details, the train was on its way to Lahore from Karachi when it met the accident between Rohri and Panu Aqil, leaving a woman dead and injuring several others.
It is not immediately known what exactly caused the accident, but officials said that the railway track is in dilapidated condition at several places in the Sukkur division.
“The mishap will be investigated to ascertain the cause of the accident,” said IG Railways.
Nine wagons of the Karachi Express worn-out somewhere between the Pano Aqil and Rohri railway stations. Four to five wagons fell into a nearby ravine.
The Rescue teams reached the spot after getting information and initially confronted problems in rescue operation due to darkness.
Railway teams from Sukkur also reached the place of incident, where the police and the teams of district management were also deployed to assist in the rescue work.
The deceased and injured were shifted to a nearby hospital.
Moreover, locals and paramilitary Rangers were taking part in the rescue work also.
