Man jailed for lending out COVID-19 vaccination status
For dishonest by personation, an offender might be jailed for up to 5 years, fined, or each.
Singapore: A 37-year-old man was jailed for five days on Friday (February 25) for helping his unvaccinated friend by letting him use his TraceTogether mobile application to enter a bar.
As per reports, the man identified as Kiran Singh Rughbir Singh allowed an unvaccinated retiree to use his TraceTogether app to present he was vaccinated against COVID.
Rughbir Singh had earlier pleaded guilty to one depend of dishonest by personation.
The courtroom heard that Singh went for drinks at a bar with his then girlfriend and Utheyakumar Nallathamby, a 65-year-old on September 9, 2021. At the time, solely vaccinated individuals have been allowed to dine in.
Utheyakumar was denied entry as a result of he was not vaccinated.
Singh instructed that 65-year-old to go to close by Coastes Bar and use his phone to display the vaccination status on the TraceTogether app and so acquire entry, whereas he waited outdoors.
Utheyakumar was allowed into the bar after doing so.
In the meantime, the Bikini Bar employee who had earlier refused Utheyakumar entry recognised him and recalled that he was unvaccinated and informed the employees at Coastes Bar.
The staff of bar then checked the telephone Utheyakumar was carrying and realised he was utilizing Singh’s telephone, TraceTogether app and vaccination status.
The case in opposition to Utheyakumar remains to be pending.
