Islamabad: Pakistan Democratic Movement (PDM) has approved the name of Yousuf Raza Gilani for the post of Senate Chairman.

The meeting chaired by PDM Chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman deliberated on joint candidates for senate chairman and deputy chairman, preparations and strategy for the long march, the situation after the vote of confidence of the prime minister and the overall political situation in the country.
Agreed on the name of Yousuf Raza Gilani
During the meeting, the name of Yousuf Raza Gilani was approved for the chairmanship of the Senate.
Recommendations from long-march
During the meeting, the special committee which was earlier set up for the long march presented recommendations. The recommendations said that the planned long march to start from Karachi on March 26 with a public gathering and all the processions should reach Islamabad by 3 pm on March 30. All parties to be fully mobilised to bring as many people as possible and parties will bear their own expenses. The committee also recommended that a poem be produced to mobilise the people for the long march. Further, businessmen, farmers and trade unions to be also mobilized. Arrangements should be made in advance for the participants arriving at the sit-in site.
PPP committed to PDM
Addressing the meeting, PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari said that Senate Chairman election is to be held in four days and PPP Is committed to PDM roadmap.
The meeting was attended by PML-N Vice President Maryam Nawaz, PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, Mahmood Khan Achakzai, Aftab Sherpao, Usman Kakar, Sajid Mir, Mian Iftikhar Hussain, Yousuf Raza Gilani, Shahid Khaqan Abbasi and Raja Pervez Ashraf.
Former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif also joined meeting as a virtual participant from London.
