Lahore: The Federal Government on Sunday has appointed Umer Sarfraz Cheema as Governor of Punjab, shortly after Chaudhry Mohammad Sarwar was terminated from the office.
According to details, Federal Minister for Information and Broadcasting Fawad Chaudhry announced the appointment of a new Governor of Punjab.

Earlier today, the federal government dismissed Governor Punjab Chaudhry Mohammad Sarwar. Federal Minister for Information and Broadcasting Fawad Chaudhry announced the government's decision on his official Twitter account.
"The announcement regarding new Punjab governor will be made later, while deputy speaker of [provincial assembly] will be the acting governor in the meantime," Fawad wrote.
