Symbolic PA session: Opposition assembles at Lahore's hotel, elects Hamza as CM Punjab
Punjab govt imposes Section 144 in and around the Punjab Assembly and calls in Rangers

Lahore: The Opposition on Wednesday held a symbolic Punjab Assembly session at a local hotel in the provincial capital and elected Hamza Shehbaz as Leader of the House.
The informal meeting took place after the PTI-led government sealed off the provincial assembly and imposed Section 144 in and around the Punjab Assembly and called in Rangers for 15 days.
PML-N Vice President Maryam Nawaz and Opposition Leader in the Punjab Assembly Hamza Shahbaz reached the hotel, while PML-N members and members of the PTI's Jahangir Tareen and Aleem Khan were already present there.
PML-N leader and MPA Rana Mashhood Ahmad Khan claimed that more than 200 MPAs were present at the hotel for the session.
Chauhdry Iqbal Gujjar presented resolution in favour of Hamza Shehbaz to become the Leader of the House and all 199 members supported the resolution.
According to Shazia Abid, 199 members present in the house got Hamza elected as the Leader of the House.
The members raised slogans of Chief Minister Hamza Shehbaz during the meeting. Maryam congratulated Hamza.
The Tareen and Aleem groups have parted ways with the PTI and Prime Minister Imran Khan and decided to support the Opposition's candidate for the chief minister's office.
The chief minister's office had fallen vacant after PTI's Usman Buzdar resigned following PM Imran Khan's decision to nominate PML-Q's Pervaiz Elahi as the new CM.
Moonis Elahi congraulates Hamza in critical manner
Talking to Twitter, PML-Q leader Chaudhry Moonis Elahi congraulated Hamza Shehbaz for becoming the chief minister of a local hotel.
