After adjournment, the session has not yet commenced.
Islamabad: The National Assembly (NA) session on the no-confidence motion against Prime Minister Imran Khan on agenda has been adjourned till 12:30pm, expected to start after the namaz break.
After adjournment, the session has not yet commenced.
The session started at 10:30am with the recitation of Holy Quran and naat which was followed by the national anthem and Fatiha, under the supervision of Speaker Asad Qaiser.
The speaker adjourned proceedings without giving a reason after just 30 rowdy minutes, ordering lawmakers to return in the afternoon.
In the meantime, a heavy security blanket has been thrown over the capital today, with thousands of police on the streets and a ring of steel containers blocking access to the government enclave.
If Imran Khan loses the no-confidence vote, the opposition will put forward a candidate for prime minister.
Shehbaz Sharif, the younger brother of three-time former prime minister Nawaz Sharif, is the anointed candidate.
