Despite the opposition's vehement objections, the Presiding Officer Muzafar Hussain ruled the votes as rejected. Earlier in the day, voting ended at 5 pm sharp, with 98 polled votes while Jamat-e-Islami abstaining from the vote.
Voting is now underway for Deputy Chairman Senate slot, with PDM's Abdul Ghafoor Haideri facing off against Mirza Afridi.
