Five killed, 65 injured as blast hits Afghanistan mosque
The explosion occurred at the Seh Dokan mosque located in a busy area of Mazar-e-Sharif
Kabul: At least five people were killed while 65 others sustained injuries after a blast hit a mosque in northern Afghanistan on Thursday, local media reported.
The explosion took place during noon prayers in the Sardawar area of Kunduz city, Afghanistan, a spokesmen for the provincial department of security said.
Security forces have blocked the roads leading to the mosque.
As per reports, the explosion occurred at the Seh Dokan mosque located in a busy area of Mazar-e-Sharif.
Sources quoting officials from the local Abu Ali Sina Balkhi District Hospital, said injured were being shifted to the facility.
The number of victims is feared to be even higher than the initial figures.
Several photos and videos, purportedly depicting the aftermath of the deadly blast, are circulating online.
In addition, explosions were also reported in Nangarhar and Kunduz, where a Taliban vehicle was attacked and four were killed.
Meanwhile, two children were injured in a bomb blast in the fifth security district of Kabul.
