Chart-topping British singer-songwriter Tom Grennan has been rushed to hospital following a brutal attack outside a Manhattan bar amid his US tour. The “unprovoked” attack followed his New York show where he was also robbed.

His manager John Dawkins wrote on social media: In the early hours of [Thursday] morning after Tom’s New York show, he was the victim of an unprovoked attack and robbery outside a bar in Manhattan. Tom is currently being assessed by doctors for his injuries which include a ruptured ear, torn eardrum and issue with his previously fractured jaw. Despite this Tom is in good spirits but needs to temporarily recuperate while doctors assess his ability to continue with his touring.

The singer postponed a concert due to take place in Washington DC this weekend. However, Dawkins thanked Grennan’s fans for their support.

The 26-year-old singer previously suffered a physical assault aged 18 by a group of strangers that left him needing a metal plate and screws in his jaw for life.

Bedford-born vocalist broke through in 2017 with his single Found What I’ve Been Looking For, a slow-burning hit that ended up being certified gold in the UK.

Grennan second album Evering Road, released in 2021, reached No 1 and featured two Top 10 singles, Let’s Go Home Together and Little Bit of Love. The latter track was also nominated for song of the year at this year’s Brit awards, and he was also nominated in the rock/alternative category.

In March, he released a new single, ‘Remind Me’.
