Pakistan continues to maintain, enhance cooperation with Turkmenistan under ECO framework: Khawaja Asif
“Pakistan and Turkmenistan share the common goal of regional stability, security, peace"
Islamabad: Minister for Defence Khawaja Muhammad Asif on Wednesday said Pakistan continued to maintain and further enhance cooperation with Turkmenistan within the framework of ECO and other Regional and International organisations.
Ambassador of Turkmenistan, Atadjan Movlamov met with the Defence Minister here at the Ministry and the focus of the meeting was to look into ways to enhance and strengthen mutual cooperation in the field of defence between the two countries, said a news release.
Khawaja further reiterated that the memorandum of understanding (MoU) on Defence cooperation (2015) between the two countries should be implemented in its true letter and spirit.
“Pakistan and Turkmenistan share the common goal of regional stability, security, peace and thus both countries can closely collaborate in the implementation of counter-terrorism measures”, the Minister said.
Ambassador of Turkmenistan, Atadjan Movlamov appreciated Pakistan’s Defence capabilities and opined that the two countries have good potential for extensive collaboration in the field of defence and for economic cooperation.
Both sides showed satisfaction and intended to collaborate in various areas of common interest, including security, counter-terrorism and ensuring regional economic connectivity.
