Peshawar: Pakistani pacer Shaheen Shah Afridi on Monday appointed as an honorary officer of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Police.

KPK Police Chief Muazzam Ansari announced Afridi as their goodwill ambassador in a ceremony.

Afridi expressed his appreciation for the police's services to the public while speaking at the event.

The 22-year-old pacer said, "My father was a police officer, and my brother is an active police officer".

Shaheen added that police officers and other security personnel are our country's true heroes. They are deserving of all respect and honour.

Shaheen made his international debut in a T20I match against West Indies in Karachi on April 3, 2018 at the age of 18.

His ODI debut came against Afghanistan in Abu Dhabi on September 21, 2018. Shaheen made his Test debut against New Zeland in Abu Dhabi came on December 3, 2018. Since then, he has become an integral member of the Pakistani team and is in charge of the pace attack for Pakistan in all three formats.
