Sydney: Thousands of Australians have been evacuated on Monday from flooding across Sydney, which is set for its worst flooding in 60 years with heavy rain expected to continue for the next few days.

Several days of downpours have caused rivers and dams to overflow across New South Wales (NSW) and south-east Queensland which damaged large areas.
Nearly eight million residents were told to avoid unnecessary travel and work from home if possible, as some areas received 25 centimeters of rain in one day. Emergency services have conducted at least 500 rescues.
Experts predicted that Australia is likely to see more frequent and more extreme weather events due to climate change.
Earlier in 2020, the same region was parched and suffered prolonged drought, water restrictions and unprecedented bushfires.
Australian Prime Minister Scott Morrison offered funds for those forced to flee from their homes.
“It’s another testing time for our country,” he said in an interview.
Country’s Bureau of Meteorology has stated that the rainfall up to 1,000mm in various areas has been extraordinary in the recent days.
