Boat was carrying around 100 wedding guests on board
Sadiqabad: At least 19 women drowned after a boat carrying around 100 passengers on board capsized in the Indus River near Machka, Sadiqabad, GNN reported on Monday.
According to details, the ill-fated boat was carrying around 100 passengers including women and children, who were part of a wedding procession that was heading towards Machka from Kharor.
The police confirmed that at least 35 people were rescued by the locals, adding that the rescue teams had also arrived at the scene.
“The dead bodies of 19 women have been recovered from the river,” police stated.
The assistant commissioner of Sadiqabad said that the search for the people who are still missing is underway.
