Jhang police launch investigation after registering a case
Lahore: Punjab Chief Minister Hamza Shehbaz Wednesday sought a report from the Punjab inspector general of police after former MPA Iftikhar Ahmed Khan Baloch was attacked and tortured in Jhang.
In a social media video, unidentified people were seen attacking the former MP, while he was travelling by a car.
The video showed that his clothes were torn and constant abuses were being hurled at him.
Following the incident, Hamza directed the IG to arrest those involved in the incident.
The police said under the direction of the chief minister, a team has been formed to arrest those people who attacked the MP.
Khan initially refused police assistance, but the police registered a case after getting him convinced.
According to a Punjab government spokesman, Iftikhar Ahmad Khan Baloch was also a candidate of Tehreek Labaik Pakistan (TLP) from PP-125 Jhang.
The Punjab CM sought a report from the Inspector General of Punjab Police and ordered early arrest of the accused.
