Seven killed, 30 injured in Hafizabad bus accident

Hafizabad: A high-speed bus turned side down in Hafizabad on Saturday, leaving seven passengers dead, and more than 30 others injured, witnesses and resucers told GNN.

The tragic accident took place near Solgen Kharl in Hafizabad, in which a high-speed passenger bus overturned after colliding with a dumper.

Many passengers were crushed under the bus' debris. Local and Rescue 1122 ambulances pulled the victims out of the badaly damaged structure of the bus and shifted the bodies and the injured to the Trauma Center Hafizabad.

North Waziristan: Three motorcyclists were killed and five others suffered injuries in a roadside bomb blast in North Waziristan on Saturday, the district adminsitration said.

The incident took place in Mir Ali. After the explosion, the security forces cordoned off the area and launched investigation.

Filling of nomination papers for NA-31 continues: EC

Peshawar: Vacant seat of Constituency NA-31 of National Assembly from Peshawar candidates of various political parties are continuing to submit nomination papers for vacant seats, an official of the Election Commission said here Saturday.

The official disclosed that on behalf of former Prime Minister Imran Khan, Haji Shaukat Ali has submitted the papers.

This seat has become vacant after the acceptance of the resignation of Shaukat Ali, a member of the National Assembly of PTI.

Election Commission is conducting by-elections on NA-31 on September 25.

Met Office predicts more torrential rains in Sindh, Balochistan, South Punjab in coming days

Islamabad: The Pakistan Meteorological Department has predicted more torrential rains in Sindh, Balochistan and South Punjab in coming days.

In a weather advisory today (Saturday), the Met Office informed that depression has developed in Arabian Sea which is likely to move towards the west along Makran coast.

Due to this weather system, monsoon currents are continuously penetrating in southern parts of the country.

Another low pressure is likely to approach Sindh on Tuesday.

Under the influence of this weather system rain-wind/thundershower with few heavy falls is expected in Sindh, Balochistan, Punjab, Islamabad, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Gilgit Baltistan and Kashmir from tomorrow till Tuesday with occasional gaps.

It said the heavy rains may generate urban flooding, advising all concerned authorities to remain alert and take necessary precautionary measures.
