Emergency personnel responded immediately and two people were transported to the hospital. A third injured person declined treatment, an official said.
However, the park closed early in response to the shooting, with visitors and staff being led out by officers.
The incident created chaos and confusion, with videos posted to social media showing parkgoers attempting to shelter in place or hide.
As per sources, no arrests have been made.
The Gurnee Police Department is investigating the shooting.
