Kashmiris observing Jammu Martyrs' Day today

WEB DESK -- Kashmiris on both sides of the Line of Control and across the world are observing Jammu Martyrs' Day today.

The day is observed to reiterate resolve to continue mission of martyrs to achieve the Kashmiri people's UN-recognized right to self-determination.

It was on 6th November, 1947 when hundreds of thousands of Kashmiris were massacred by Dogra forces of Maharaja Hari Singh, Indian troops and Hindutva groups.

The massacres occurred across different parts of Jammu region. The victims were migrating to Pakistan during the first week of November.

In Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir, Hurriyat leaders and organizations have paid rich tributes to the martyrs of the 1947 Jammu massacre, describing it as one of the darkest and most tragic chapters in Kashmir's history.

Hurriyat leaders, in their statements issued in Srinagar, described the carnage as a grave example of genocide and ethnic cleansing.

The Hurriyat leaders and organizations said that the Jammu massacre was part of a well-planned conspiracy to turn Jammu's Muslim majority into a minority.

The leaders and organizations urged the international community to take notice of the continued killing of innocent Kashmiris by Indian troops in IIOJK.
