South Korean star becomes the first female solo artist to win Best K-pop award


New Jersey: BLACKPINK icon Lisa won ‘Best K-Pop’ award at the MTV Video Music Awards (VMAs) 2022.
BLACKPINK member Lisa is thankful to YG Entertainment and BLINKS as she was appreciated at the 2022 MTV Video Music Awards.
The 25-year-old South Korean icon was presented with the trophy for “Best K-Pop. “The prize was given to the Crossing Field singer for her successful solo album LALISA. South Korean star officially became the first K-pop solo artist to grab a VMA win!
Lisa thanked producer Teddy, YG Entertainment, the team behind the efforts of making her solo debut and producing an iconic release.
"BLINKS, you're like the most important ones. Thank you so much for making this happen," she said, referring to BLACKPINK fans, who are known as BLINKS.
She gave a shoutout to the members, Jisoo, Rose and Jennie, thanked them for their support and ended the speech with, “I love you!”
In addition to this, BLACKPINK also won the award for 'Best Metaverse Performance' for their PUBG collaboration Ready For Love.
The star-studded MTV Video Music Awards event was held on Sunday at the Prudential Center in New Jersey.
The cable network MTV held the VMAs ceremony to recognize the best in the music video industry across a number of categories.
