New York: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has thanked US President Joe Biden for highlighting the plight of the flood victims in Pakistan and urging the world for an immediate response.

In a tweet on Thursday, he said Pakistan is facing the ravages of unprecedented floods. He said the calls of stranded women and children for help need to be heeded to.

Earlier, in his address to the UN General Assembly, the US President made a fervent appeal to the world to help Pakistan deal with the devastation of floods.

Meanwhile, in another tweet on Thursday, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif says his discussions with top officials of IMF and World Bank in New York have focused on making resources available within our existing programs for post-flood reconstruction.

The Prime Minister said he discussed floods, climate change, and rehabilitation of flood victims during his meetings with other world leaders.
