Veteran lyricist ‘Masroor Anwar’ remembered on his 25th death anniversary
Karachi: Renowned poet and lyricist of Pakistani film industry, Masroor Anwar, is being remembered on his 25th death anniversary on Thursday (today).
Masroor Anwar was one of the most prominent lyricists of the Pakistani film industry from 1962 to 1990 and wrote many songs. His famous and successful songs includes Anjuman, Pehchan, Heera Aur Pathar, Bulandi, Arman, Saiqa, Qurbani, Doraha and Saughat.
He was also a screenplay and dialogue writer.
In early 70’s, he also wrote various memorable patriotic songs such as Sohni Dharti Allah Rakhay, Apni Jaan Nazar Karoon, Watan Ki Mitti Gawah Rehna and Jug Jug Jiye Mera Pyara Watan.
The legendary poet was born in 1944 in Simla and died on April 01, 1996, in Lahore.
Moreover, Anwar crowned ‘Pride of Performance’ award by the government of Pakistan.
