From the production of crops to processing, preparing and distributing foods, women’s labour – paid and unpaid – feeds their families, communities and the world.
Islamabad: International Day of Rural Women is being observed on Saturday (today), to create awareness about gender equality and empowering women.
This year, the theme of the day is "Rural Women Cultivating Good Food for All", which highlights the essential role that rural women and girls play in the food systems of the world.
Meanwhile, an Annual Rural Women Conference has started in Islamabad, in connection with the International Day of Rural Women.
Rural women from 120 districts of the country gathered at the conference.
The conference provides a platform to rural women and their leadership to bring their issues and solutions on the front vocally for change to reduce the gender gap in every sphere of life.
