Melbourne: Big UPSET as Ireland beat England on the Duckworth–Lewis–Stern method (DLS) due to heavy rainfall in Melbourne.
Jos Buttler and co fell short by five runs before the umpire called time on this T20 World Cup thriller.
England's top batting order failed in the chase of 158 runs.
In the match played in Melbourne, Ireland had given England a target of 158 runs to win. Chasing the target, England scored 105 runs for 5 wickets in 14.3 overs.
Due to rain, the match was decided under the Duckworth-Lewis method in which England lost by 5 runs.
Ireland were on a high after the thumping win over West Indies to qualify for the Super 12 of T20 World Cup 2022, but have been brought back to the ground after a nine-wicket loss to Sri Lanka.
