Rain-wind with thunderstorm and snowfall over the hilly areas is expected

Lahore: Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) Friday issued a fresh alert for rain and snowfall across Punjab.
Mainly dry weather is expected in most plain areas of the country, while cold in northern areas during the next twelve hours. However, rain-wind with thunderstorm and snowfall over the hilly areas is expected in upper Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Gilgit-Baltistan.
According to an official notification, the Met office has predicted that northern winds will hit country’s different areas today.
Major cities including Lahore, Rawalpindi, Murree, Chakwal, Attock, Jhelum, Sialkot, and Narowal will be expecting excessive rainfall from November 5 to 7.
Rain is also expected in the areas of Gujrat, Gujranwala, Mianwali, Khushab, Sargodha, Hafizabad, Jhang and Faisalabad.
The northern winds will also lead to heavy rainfall in Murree, Islamabad, Gujrat, Gujranwala, and Sialkot on 5th and 6th November. However, moderate rain has been forecasted in Multan, D.G. Khan, Bhakkar and Laiyyah starting Sunday.
Sahiwal, Okara, Rajanpur, and Muzaffargarh will face rainfall, while snowfall and hailstorms have been predicted in mountainous areas.
The upper areas of the country will experience extreme cold weather after the rainfall.
The spokesperson PDMA has directed Punjab management to be well prepared in a bid to deal with any emergency situation. In the meantime, authorities have directed the concerned personnel of District Emergency Operation Centers (DEOC) to be on alert 24/7.
