Moscow: A magnitude 5.6 earthquake struck Caucasus region, Russia on Thursday, European Mediterranean Siesmological Centre (EMSC) said.
The quake was 41 km (25.48 miles) below the earth's surface, EMSC said.
In 1995, apparently Russia’s worst-ever earthquake, hit the far eastern island of Sakhalin measuring magnitude of 7.5, which claimed the lives of 1,989 people.
