Eight cops injured in Turkiye car bombing

Diyarbakir: At least eight Turkish police officers sustained injuries on Friday after their vehicle got directly affected by an explosion in a roadside car in the southeastern province of Diyarbakir.  

According to details, the police minibus was on the highway and officials were on their way to work.  

“The bomb detonated at around five in the morning,” said Interior Minister Suleyman Soylu adding that two culprits have been detained.

The incident unfolded near livestock market around 10 km (6 miles) south of the centre of Diyarbakir— the largest city in the region and country's largest Kurdish-majority city.

So far, there was no immediate statement of responsibility for the blast.

The Diyarbakir governor's office stated, “The bomb had not critically hurt anyone, but the officers who were in the police van had been taken to hospital and are said to be in good condition”.

No casualties have been reported as yet.

In November, a bomb killed six people and wounded dozens in Istanbul.
