IG Punjab Faisal relinquishes charge
IG Punjab Faisal Shahkar relinquished his charge.
Lahore: Inspectors General (IG) Punjab Faisal Shahkar Wednesday relinquished his charge, GNN reported.
According to details, Punjab government has sent the names of three officers including Fayyaz Deo, Amir Zulfiqar and Ghulam Mehmood Dogar to federal government to be appointed as IG.
Earlier, Faisal Shahkar resigned from his post November 6, citing personal reasons.
Refusing to work under the Punjab government, Shahkar wrote a letter to the establishment division and requested an immediate transfer.
In his letter, the IG stated that it is difficult for him to continue his current assignments’ under the provincial government.
“It is not possible for me to continue on my current assignments, due to personal reasons, therefore, requested that my services may kindly be withdrawn with immediate effect from Punjab government and placed at the disposal of the federal government,” the letter read.
Notably, Faisal Shahkar had been appointed as the United Nations Police Adviser in the Department of Peace Operations (DPO) by UN Secretary-General António Guterres on November 1.
Faisal had also served in several senior positions with the Pakistan Police, including as an Additional Inspector of Police in Punjab, as well as Regional Police Chief.
