LHC adjourns Punjab CM de-notification case hearing till tomorrow


Lahore: The Lahore High Court (LHC) Wednesday adjourned the case hearing of the de-notification of Punjab Chief Minister Parvez Elahi till tomorrow (January 12).
According to details, LHC Justice Abid Aziz Shaikh stated that the court will start the hearing at 9:00 am on Wednesday.
During the hearing, Justice Asim Hafeez remarked that if a minister resigns then the Governor could have asked for a vote of confidence.
Then, Justice Abid said the governor did not give suitable time to take the no-confidence vote and, the notification issued by the Governor was illegal. Hence, the judge inquired Punjab Chief Minister Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi to ascertain the required time he needs to call a vote of confidence in the provincial assembly.
The court resumed the hearing of the CM's petition against his de-notification by Governor Balighur Rehman for not taking a vote of confidence under Article 130 (7) of the Constitution.
On December 23, Balighur Rehman de-notified CM Pervaiz Elahi, for failing to take a vote of confidence from the provincial assembly on December 21.
