British actor Julian Sands reported missing in US mountains
The actor has been missing in California mountains for nearly a week; had gone hiking

California: British-born film actor Julian Sands— known for his starring roles in films as "A Room with a View" and "Warlock"— has gone missing on a remote California mountain range amid heavy storms.
Julian Sands has been missing for nearly a week, in the same area where two stranded hikers perished after falling or injuring themselves.
The 65-year-old artist was reported missing by his wife on January 13, after he had gone hiking in the Baldy Bowl area of the San Gabriel Mountains.
Ground teams immediately launched a search for the actor but the effort was called off about 24 hours later due to avalanche risks and poor trail conditions.
However, intermittent aerial searches by helicopter and drone aircraft have continued, and authorities planned to resume a ground search once conditions allow.
The Baldy Bowl, about 50 miles northeast of Los Angeles just below the Mount Baldy ski area, is a popular destination for skiers, climbers and hikers.
It is unclear why he was hiking on Mount Baldy, and whether or not he is alone.
Friends and former colleagues of Julian Sands took to social media to share their worries about his disappearance, and best wishes.
Born in England, Sands moved to California in the 1980s to pursue a Hollywood career. Mr Sands is best known for films like The Killing Fields, Warlock and Leaving Las Vegas. He also appeared in the TV shows 24 and Smallville.
Father-of-three Sands has been married twice, including to well-known journalist Sarah Sands in the 1980s.
