The PPP and PML-N, meanwhile, agree to work as coalition partners for election of mayor of Karachi city and by-elections in the Sindh province.

KarachiL: Jamat-e-Islami Karachi leader Hafiz Naeem ur Rehman and Pakistan Tahreek Insaaf leader Ali Haider Zaidi discussed emerging political situation in the wake of local bodies' elections in Karachi, saying that they formed a joint committee to tally Form -11s including polling station result forms issued by the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP).
Both the leaders demanded the authorities concerned to get back what was stolen in rigging during the second phase of the Sindh local government elections.
Addressing a press conference along with JI leader Chief Hafiz Naeemur Rehman, PTI leader Ali Haider Zaidi said, “The committee consisting four members, two from both the parties, has been formed,”.
Zaidi said that there were almost 40 union councils where PTI’s “mandate was stolen”.
He stated, “We have all the Form 11s, PTI and JI have been communicating since before the elections and we have decided that we will sit together with Form 11s ],”

The second phase of the local government elections was held in 16 districts of Sindh on Jan 15. However, major contesting parties including the ruling PPP had raised concerns over an unusual delay in the results in Karachi and blamed the ECP for mismanagement.
The electoral body took more than 36 hours to announce the results of 236 union committees of Karachi as the opposition PTI and JI accused the provincial administration of “rigging and managing things” in its favour. However, contesting parties remain unsure about their mandate as the electoral watchdog has yet to finalise the results.
On other hand, Pakistan People's Party and Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz Sindh Chapter agreed to work as coalition partners for election of mayor of Karachi city and by-elections in the Sindh province.
The agreement was reached at a meeting between Sindh Minister for Labor Saeed Ghani and President PML-N Sindh Syed Shah Muhammad Shah in Karachi on Saturday.
Shah Muhammad Shah assured that PML will fully support Pakistan People's Party in election of Mayor in Karachi.
Saeed Ghani said it is right of every party to form coalition for election of mayor, however being a single largest party, the mayor should be from Pakistan people's party.
