Assassination attempt on Imran Khan: JIT’s three key-members replaced
The latest reports say that the development has taken place after head of the JIT complained to the additional chief secretary about the three members for leaking secret information to the media and damaging the case.
Lahore: The Punjab Home department on Sunday changed the three key committee members of Joint Investigation Team (JIT) probing assassination attempt on PTI Chairman Imran Khan in Wazirabad.
Provincial Home department Additional Chief Secretary Capt (retired) Asadullah Khan replaced the three key committee memes who had been investigating the case for last two months.
However, the authorities idid not change the JIT head, Lahore Capital City Police Officer (CCPO) Ghulam Mahmood Dogar.
According to the notification, District Police Officer (DPO) Dera Ghazi Khan Muhammad Akmal, SP Anjum Kamal, and Jhang Crime Investigation Agency DSP Nasir Nawaz were included in the JIT.
The development took place after CCPO Lahore Ghulam Mahmood Dogar said that the JIT members were damaging the ‘Wazirabad Attack case’.
Dogar prepared a report and sent it to the additional Chief Secretary’s home and asked him to take strict action against them. He said that the JIT members ruined the case and leaked the secret information to the social and traditional media.
It may be mentioned here that first JIT was formed on November 9, 2022 while the second JIT was made on last year on November 10. The JIT, on November 15, 2022, was formed again to probe the case.
PTI Chief Imran Khan and several other PTI leaders were left injured after a man started firing at the container they were standing on for their long march near Allaho Chowk of Wazirabad in November last year.
