The political and military leaders offered funeral prayer of the former military ruler at the Polo ground of Malir Cantonment in Karachi.


Karachi:Former President General (retd) Pervez Musharraf was laid to rest in a military graveyard in Karachi on Tuesday.
The funeral prayer of the army chief was held at the Polo ground of Malir Cantonment in Karachi.
Chairman Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee General Sahir Shamshad, former army chiefs Gen (retd) Qamar Javed Bajwa and Gen (retd) Ashfaq Parvez Kayani were among the people who offered his funeral prayer.
Muttahida Qaumi Movement-Pakistan (MQM-P) leaders including Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui, Mustafa Kamal, Farooq Sattar, Amir Muqam, Aminul Haque, Faisal Subzwari and other famous personalities also offered the funeral prayer of the ex-president.
The body of Pervez Musharraf arrived in Karachi through a special flight from UAE.
Before leaving for Karachi, his body was given Ghusl (ritual washing and shrouding of the deceased ahead of burial) in Sonapur, Dubai.
The widow of the former army chief and his children were also flown in from Dubai.

Musharraf died on Sunday morning at American hospital in Dubai after prolonged illness.
It may be mentioned here that the former president’s mother was buried in Dubai while his father was laid to rest in Karachi.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz supremo Nawaz Sharif, and other politicians expressed condolences for the family of the former military ruler and prayed for his soul. Musharraf was in self-exile in UAE for last couples of years.
