Karachi: In an unfortunate incident, a six-year-old child was killed when an alleged bullet from an unknown direction hit him near Qayyumabad Bridge in Karachi, reported Saturday.
Abdul Rauf— the father of the child— said that his son Abdul Ghani was sitting in the car with his family when suddenly a bullet smashed the high-roof car glass and hit the child sitting on the back seat, which proved to be fatal.
He said that the incident took place at 11pm, adding that “We were going from the medical center to Mehran Town when suddenly we heard the sound of firing and the scream of the child was heard”.
The father told that he did not see anyone firing and instantly took the child to the hospital.
According to Abdul Rauf, he works as a driver and the whole family was present in the vehicle.
The deceased child was the eldest among five siblings. After legal proceedings in Jinnah Hospital, the body was handed over to the heirs.
Police stated that the shooting incident took place near the Qayyumabad petrol pump, whereas the injured child died on reaching Abdul Ghani Hospital.
The police said that they are conducting further investigations regarding the incident.
