Islamabad: Chief Election Commissioner (CEC), Sikandar Sultan Raja Monday summoned a meeting of Election Commission at the commission’s secretariat regarding the conduct of elections in Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
The meeting has been called in the light of Lahore High Court’s (LHC) directions to hold Punjab Assembly elections within the constitutional period of 90 days after President Dr. Arif Alvi's letter to commission for holding elections.
It is pertinent to note that LHC had ordered the Election Commission to announce the elections within the period given in the constitution.
