Dentist's life cut short in elevator mishap, right after childbirth
The dentist’s family has refused to lodge an FIR against the hospital administration
Karachi: In a fatal elevator mishap, a 30-year-old female dentist passed away after falling down the lift shaft in Karachi’s Sambros Hospital— where she gave birth to a baby girl—while being transported to her ward on a stretcher.
According to the details, the woman has been identified as Summaiya Ashraf (30) and the hospital staff member was taking her to the gynaecological ward on a stretcher which fell down the lift shaft resulting in her death.
Report citing sources said that the woman was being taken on a stretcher through the elevator when suddenly the lift broke down and while trying to pull the stretcher back, the patient fell inside the lift. The patient lost her life, following multiple traumatic injuries to the head.
Reportedly, the lift system malfunctioned and its door got opened but the lift car was not there.
In the meantime, the dentist’s family has refused to lodge an FIR against the hospital administration. Moreover, the victim’s husband stated that he does not want a post-mortem examination and legal proceedings.
